ABOUT PETRA
Vienna based freelance scenographer and artist. Petra Schnakenberg studied scenography under the tutelage of Prof. Anna Viebrock at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and graduated with distinction in 2020. In addition to a semester abroad at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, she studied stage and costume design at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. She has worked as a stage and costume assistant at the Bavarian State Opera, Opéra national du Rhin, Salzburg Festival, Bregenz Festival, Vienna State Opera and Zurich Opera House, among others.
She has created her own stage and costume designs and productions at Werk-X Petersplatz Vienna, Espace Périphérique de la Villette Paris, Rote Fabrik Zurich, the Thomas Bernhard Institute and the Semperdepot Vienna. Schnakenberg received the START Scholarship for Performing Arts of the Austrian Federal Government in 2021 and is a scholarship holder of the Mentoring Program 2022 of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Akademie Musiktheater heute of the Deutsche Bank Foundation in the field of stage and costume design. Her city models were exhibited at the Elektrohalle Rhomberg Salzburg, amongst other venues. In her artistic work, she explores the model as a medium in the performing arts.
Petra speaks fluent English, French and German and is also able to order a Spritz in Italy.
